Whenever I need to laugh I'm going straight to this video clip from August: Osage County that's on the Tony Awards Web site. Just listening to a few seconds of Rondi Reed's award-winning performance as Aunt Mattie Fae Aiken cracks me up. "I'm havin a cocktail!"After watching fellow Tony-winner Deanna Dunagan's unforgettable entrance as Violet Weston, and then the hilarious banter between Reed and Francis Guinan, who played her husband, Charlie, I knew I was in for an amazing evening. While their last performance in the show was Sunday, I hope I get to see them on stage again someday.
Also, check out the show's Web site, where the publicity machine has been hard at work since the Tony Awards. August: Osage County is already being touted as "The most celebrated play of the 21st century." Ok, we're still a little early into the century, but at this point, you won't get an argument from me!
Perhaps you can see them if you go to London....
ReplyDeleteHey, great idea Steve! Maybe this is the incentive I need to get my lapsed passport renewed!
ReplyDeleteThat's the ticket!
ReplyDeleteI say we make it a blogger's field trip.
