It's a complex subject, but I know that the vast majority of Israelis and Palestinians simply want to live their lives in peace.Estherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16076517542540421210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1912669500934497251.post-66151911260482743332007-12-01T16:57:00.000-05:002007-12-01T16:57:00.000-05:00Esther, Great, thoughtful and thought-provoking po...Esther, Great, thoughtful and thought-provoking post, as always.Steve On Broadway (SOB)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04353077627991682499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1912669500934497251.post-72357897032172162882007-11-29T13:37:00.000-05:002007-11-29T13:37:00.000-05:00Bashar, welcome and thanks so much for leaving a c...Bashar, welcome and thanks so much for leaving a comment. I figure that besides my friends and family, most people come upon my blog accidentally!

I think you make some very good points. It's difficult for either Israelis or Palestinians to make big sacrifices. (And tragically, both sides seem capable of sustaining an incredible amount of suffering without an end to the conflict.)

But I'm glad you don't feel that the conflict has to last forever. I agree that international assistance is needed, mainly from the United States because that's really the only party the Israelis trust.Estherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16076517542540421210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1912669500934497251.post-30363978483647308432007-11-29T08:24:00.000-05:002007-11-29T08:24:00.000-05:00I accidentally came to your post, its really inter...I accidentally came to your post, its really interesting, However ones can never be optimistic nor pessimistic all the time, the most important thing is what is happening on the ground, I am talking about the Arab’s point of view here, as there has been al ot of meetings and conferences but they all resulted to Zero results on the ground, so justifiably the crowds were angry and that what triggered the Palestinian’s intifada(uprising) in 2000, to make a long story short, most people here are pessimistic.

"When the two mothers finally get a chance to speak to each other, over a video hookup, there's very little common ground" absolutely true,
Let me put things in perspective here (my own opinion), both parties are fighting for the same land, no party is can make big sacrifices, if he/she does then he/she will end up being crucified!
Does that mean that its an ever lasting conflict? Absolutely NO, it will be solved when there is enough suffering from both sides and a REAL international pressure to end it, only then we may have peace, its sad but trueBasharhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16623416264571716450noreply@blogger.com
