Apparently Williamson had been a problem throughout the production.

Anyway, I Hate Hamlet sounds funny. Too bad it can't play in repertory with Hamlet!Estherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16076517542540421210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1912669500934497251.post-52439198595750991502009-10-20T21:30:51.735-04:002009-10-20T21:30:51.735-04:00Nicol Williamson has had quite the reputation for ...Nicol Williamson has had quite the reputation for erratic and unprofessional behavior. When he was appearing as Henry VIII in the failed Rodgers and Harnick musical "Rex" in 1976, he famously slapped an actor across the face in view of a shocked audience during the curtain call.

The actor, a member of the ensemble had said "That's a wrap." and Williamson apparently thought he said "That was crap."

Lots of other weird antics, like walking off during a performance of "Hamlet" and also striking producer David Merrick. If I'm not mistaken I believe Helen Mirren really disliked working with him, too.Kevin Dalyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11885446907718013966noreply@blogger.com
